Free Letter Tracing App for Kids: Learn to Write the ABCs

Trace Along ABC is a free letter tracing app for preschool and kindergarten children (about ages 3 to 5). Kids trace big (uppercase) and little (lowercase) letters with a finger, hear a friendly voice say each letter, and collect stickers and stars as they go. It runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install.

No ads, no sign-up, no in-app purchases and no tracking.

Letters you can trace now

More letters are on the way. The app uses the same letter shapes and stroke order as the Trace Along ABC videos on YouTube.

How it works

  1. Pick a letter. The narrator says its name and the stroke words, like “Straight down. Then across.”
  2. Start at the big dot and follow the dotted path, one stroke at a time, in the right order and direction.
  3. Trace the big letter first, then the little letter.
  4. Meet three picture words that start with the letter, like Ant, Airplane and Apple for A.
  5. Collect a sticker for each letter, bronze, silver and gold stars for tracing it again, and badges along the way.

If a stroke wanders off the path, the app gently says “Let’s try again. Follow the dots.” There are no scores, timers or failing.
